Weather | POGO

The weather we experience on land is closely linked to changes in sea surface temperature. For example, weather phenomena such as El Niño/ La Niña and the Asian Monsoon are determined by shifts in sea surface temperature patterns. Sustained observations of ocean conditions are necessary to predict and provide advance warning of severe weather phenomena such as the monsoon rains and related flooding.
