WE-Heraeus Summer School "Physics of the Ocean", 9-14 July 2017, Bad Honnef, Germany

This Summer School aims at:

  • providing a broader view of the ocean system from a physical perspective, encompassing a large range of scales and their interactions.
  • introducing the observations and models, theory and statistical methods used by environmental and ocean physicists and to their present understanding of the physical ocean system

4th International Marine Phytoplankton Taxonomic Workshop 2017, SAHFOS, UK

The Sir Alister Hardy Foundation for Ocean Science (SAHFOS) is delighted to announce they will be running this popular workshop again from 3rd July - 14th July 2017 in Plymouth, UK. This is an introductory workshop aimed at all those working in the marine phytoplankton field.  Classification and taxonomy of the major marine microalgal groups will be covered in this interactive workshop. Practical elements using a variety of methodologies and techniques will cover sampling, settling and slide preparation, cell counting, isolation, microscopy and culturing.

New Frontiers in Operational Oceanography: GODAE Oceanview Summer School 2017

The international school for observing, assimilating and forecasting the ocean is a two week program offered to early career scientists, professionals and students on the current state of the art in operational oceanography and related advances in the ocean sciences. The courses will include topics covering the leading edge science in ocean observing systems, as well as the latest methods and techniques for analysis, data assimilation and ocean modeling.
