IOCS-2017: Training Courses and Scholarships

The 2017 International Ocean Colour Science meeting (IOCS-2017) will take place from 15-18 May 2017 in Lisbon, Portugal. Two training courses are offered following the meeting (Friday 19 May 2017) and will run concurrently: i) the Copernicus marine data stream and ii) SeaDAS updates and future directions.

Call for SCAR 2017 Visiting Professor Applications

The SCAR Visiting Professor Scheme is designed to encourage the active involvement of scientists and academics in Antarctic research, and to strengthen international capacity and cooperation in Antarctic research.

Ocean Optics Summer Class 2017

Calibration and Validation of Ocean Color Remote Sensing. 10 July – 5 August 2017, at the Darling Marine Center in Maine, USA.


An intensive four-week, cross-disciplinary, graduate-level course in Optical Oceanography will be offered at the University of Maine’s Ira C. Darling Marine Center in summer 2017. This class is a continuation of the Optical Oceanography course first offered at the Friday Harbor Laboratories in 1985 and more recently at the Darling Marine Center. Past graduates are many of today’s leaders in oceanography.

at the University of Namibia's Sam Nujoma Research Center in Henties Bay and Namibia's National Marine Information and Research Center in Swakopmund.

 

Glider School 6-11 Nov 2017, PLOCAN (Spain)

PLOCAN is an initiative committed with both its adjoining socioeconomic environment and the international excellence in science and technology. The objective is to train them in theoretical and practical abilities and skills concerning underwater vehicles, as gliders. Registration for the school is now open. Two different fee prices are available, based on whether the applicant is a student or not. Upon the cessation of applications, a selection process will immediately get underway. The event is limited to 15 attendees.
