SCAR Fellowships 2012-2013

The SCAR Fellowship Programme is designed to encourage the active involvement of early career scientists and engineers in Antarctic scientific research, and to strengthen international capacity and cooperation in Antarctic research.

Interridge Cruise Travel Bursaries

To encourage new collaborations across the InterRidge member nations.
To enable early-career, ridge-crest scientists to participate in mid-ocean ridge research cruises.
To develop new research directions.

The award
Up to $2000 USD will be awarded for travel and subsistence costs to facilitate cruise participation. Successful applicants will be asked, on their return, to:
Produce a report for the IR website in their own language, the host scientist's language, and English

The GEOMAR, division of Marine Ecology is offering a PhD-candidate position In the field Nutritional ecology of zooplankton and fish larvae in aquaculture in the research unit Experimental Ecology – Food Webs

Travel funds for young scientists to attend ICES Annual Science Conference

Limited funding to support travel to the 2012 ICES Annual Science Conference is available to encourage participation by researchers from U.S. academic institutions. Strong preference will be given to scientists within 7 years of receipt of the PhD who are first-time ICES participants. Potential participants should submit abstracts for oral presentations or posters in one of the 18 theme sessions listed in the attachment.

Experimental Design & Data Analysis Course for PhD Students, Göteborg

This graduate–level course provides participants with advanced skills and hands-on training in the design of sampling programs and experiments in marine systems, and subsequent statistical and graphical analysis of results. The course will comprise both lectures and practical/workshop sessions, giving participants the opportunity to apply the principles learned to marine datasets using commonly available statistical software.
