UK Energy Research Centre Summer School

UKERC is holding a summer school from 26th June - 1st July 2011 at the University of Warwick. There will be 100 places available for UK and international students. The School has been specifically designed to give first and second year PhD students an understanding of energy systems as a whole and of pathways to low-carbon and resilient energy systems. We welcome applications from those engaged in energy-related research including technical, physical, social, economic, environmental and business aspects of energy and energy systems.

JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship; Call for applications

Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) is the leading research funding agency in Japan, established by the Japanese Government for the purpose of contributing to the advancement of science. JSPS plays a key role in the administration of various scientific and academic programmes, whilst expanding bilateral exchange between Japan and the United Kingdom.

 

In cooperation with  the Nominating Authorities (the Royal Society and the British Academy), JSPS  provides the opportunity for outstanding young researchers to conduct cooperative research with leading groups at Japanese Universities and Institutions for a period of between 1 – 2 years.

CMORE Microbial Oceanography Summer Course

This summer’s Microbial Oceanography course, hosted at the University of Hawaii, will run from May 31-July 8, 2011.  The course is open to graduate students and post-docs with interests in microbial oceanography.  The course includes daily lectures, symposia, laboratory training, and a 10 day oceanographic research cruise aboard the R/V Kilo Moana. 

 

IOC fellowship programme

IOC is pleased to announce the Fellowship Programme: “YOUNG AFRICAN LEADERS FOR ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE ONOCEAN AND COASTAL ZONES”.
 
Objectives of fellowship programme
1. Provide the opportunities for 12 young African marine scientists to be involved in  national programmes of  Adaptation to climate change on oceans and coastal zones
 
2. Engage selected fellows to address ocean and coastal adaptation to climate change of special relevance to coastal  communities in their countries.

UNFCCC Fellowships

The United Nations Climate Change secretariat is pleased to announce the launch of the third round of its fellowship programme, whose objective is to contribute to building capacity for addressing climate change in Parties not included in Annex I to the Convention, particularly in small island developing States and least developed countries.
