2018 POGO Visiting Fellowship for Shipboard Training on an Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) Cruise

POGO is pleased to announce that in partnership with Plymouth Marine Laboratory, it is offering a POGO-PML Visiting Fellowship for training on-board an Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) cruise in 2018. Previously this has proved to be a very successful training programme providing hands-on, sea-going experience to young scientists from developing countries, and the opportunity to be involved in an internationally renowned scientific programme.

 

CLIVAR-FIO Summer School, Qingdao, China, 25-30 June 2018

The CLIVAR-FIO Summer School on “Past, present and Future Sea Level changes” will be organised in Qingdao, China, from June 25 to 30, 2018, back to back with the Training course “Ocean Forecast Systems” of the UNESCO/IOC Regional from July 2 to 7, 2018.

 

The Summer School has the objective to provide early career scientists and engineers specializing in sea level research with an update in observations, knowledge, and understanding for the study of global and regional sea level change and their impacts in coastal areas.

 

OpenMODs project

POGO is supporting #OpenMODS, a project led by OGS in collaboration with AWI

 

OpenMODs aims to devise open access marine observation devices, that will be globally available to all. At this exploratory stage, the project partners are trying to encourage research scientists, potential partners from the private sector, and other interested parties to engage in a discussion about what is needed and how it could be achieved.

 

5th African Research Discovery Camp / RGNO 2018

The 5th African Research Discovery Camp will take place from 16 April to 11 May 2018, in Namibia.

 

The overarching theme of the 2018 RGNO is "Resilience and Responses of the Benguela Upwelling Ecosystem towards Changes in the global and regional Environment" with a focus on micro-scale microbial and biogeochemical ecosystem processes occurring in redox transition zones.
