2016 Call for SCOR Working Group Proposals

The 2016 SCOR Annual Meeting will take place in Sopot, Poland on 5-7 September 2016. The SCOR Secretariat will accept proposals for new working groups from now until 17 April 2016. POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowships 2016 now open for applications

The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) and Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research (SCOR) are pleased to announce that the POGO-SCOR Visiting Fellowship programme for 2016 is now open for applications. The deadline for applications is 15 April 2016.

Bigelow Laboratory launches new Centers for Venture Research focused on seafood security and the opening Arctic Ocean

Recognizing the importance of making science more relevant and accessible to meet societal needs, Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences has launched two new Centers for Venture Research, specifically geared to translating basic ocean-related scientific research to inform problem-solving, policy, and public awareness. The first two centers will focus on the opening of the Arctic Ocean and seafood security.

POGO’s New Strategy Document is Launched in Tokyo, Japan

25 January 2016 - The Partnership for Observation of the Global Oceans (POGO) presented the new observational strategy at a press conference in Tokyo, Japan today ahead of the annual meeting of the organisation, which brings together the directors of 40 oceanographic institutions from around the world.

 

POGO’s vision is to have by 2030, world-wide cooperation for a sustainable, state-of-the-art global ocean observing system that serves the needs of science and society.
