New CarboSchools Booklet

This 70-page booklet is the third of a suite of booklets for teachers produced by the CarboSchools project, connecting schools with climate change research institutions in Europe since 2005 (www.carboschools.org). 

NERC Marine Planning Moorings Policy

NERC Marine Planning has implemented a new Moorings Policy in support of the NERC Marine Facilities Programme.  The Moorings Policy will apply to all applications which request the use of mooring equipment from the National Marine Equipment Pool (NMEP). To help implement the new Policy, NERC is seeking members for a new Expert Scientific Moorings Assessment Group. 

JPR Special Issue on the Continuous Plankton Recorder

A special issue on "The Continuous Plankton Recorder - Towards a Global Perspective" will be published in December in the Journal of Plankton Research (Vol. 32, No. 12). The issue is already available on-line.

New document on Ocean Acidification

The Ocean Acidification Reference User Group (RUG) has released a new document about ocean acidification titled "Ocean acidification: Questions answered" that is targeted to nonspecialists.  Similar to their overview document "Ocean Acidification: The Facts" released last year, this document is written in plain terms, and has been translated into 5 languages for wide circulation.

Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) Blog

You can follow the progress of the latest AMT cruise (AMT-20), on board UK research vessel RRS James Cook, on the following blog: http://www.amtblog.org.uk.

RRS James Cook sailed from Southampton on 12 October 2010 and is expected to  reach its destination, Punta Arenas (Chile), on 25 November. Cruise participants recently celebrated the crossing of the Equator, on 3 November.
