Call for review: Deep Ocean Observing Strategy survey and report

The Deep Ocean Observing Strategy (DOOS) organizers are conducting a deep-ocean observation inventory to lay the foundation for development and coordination of regional, national, and global deep-ocean observing systems.

They request your assistance by asking you to complete a brief online survey on the current use of, and needs for, deep ocean observations.

GCRF UK Funding call: Growing research capability to meet the challenges faced by developing countries

The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is today launching a  call for applications for strategic programmes designed to grow research capability to address the challenges faced by developing countries. The aims of the call are to enhance existing and to build new collaborations between UK researchers and researchers in developing countries, and to increase the engagement of the UK research base with the many actors and agencies involved in responding to the needs of the world’s poorest populations.

SCOR Working Group 145 Chemical Speciation Modelling in Seawater to Meet 21st Century Needs (MARCHEMSPEC) has been charged with designing and developing a user-friendly chemical speciation modelling package for the marine science community. 

Journal of Ocean Law and Governance in Africa seeking contributions for the 2017 issue

Contributions relating to marine law, maritime law or ocean governance in Africa are invited for publication in iiLwandle Zethu (“Our Seas” in Xhosa), the new Journal of Ocean Law and Governance in Africa (JOLGA), published by Juta and Company. The first issue of JOLGA has been published (the order form can be found in the announcement). The  submission of contributions for the 2017 issue, which may take the form of articles, notes, updates or book reviews, is now open.
