NERC UK Funding Opportunity: Marine Integrated Autonomous Observing Systems

Proposals are invited for a new research programme on improving understanding of shelf sea ecosystem function using integrated autonomous observing systems.


This research programme will address the scientific and technological challenges of using new technologies to deliver a more efficient and integrated next-generation UK marine observing programme, capable of meeting science and policy data requirements now and into the future.


Mid-Term Evaluation of the EU LIFE Programme for Environment and Climate: Consultation Open

The European Commission's Directorate General for Environment has launched a consultation on the LIFE Programme for the Environment and Climate Action. LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU. Since 1992, LIFE has co-financed some 4306 projects. For the 2014-2020 funding period, LIFE will contribute approximately €3.4 billion to the protection of the environment and climate.

Call for expert reviews of IPBES draft documents

As part of the open, transparent and collaborative process in the development of IPBES assessment reports, the external First Order Draft review by experts of the IPBES thematic assessment on land degradation and restoration (Deliverable 3bi) and of the four regional assessments (Africa, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Europe and Central Asia) on biodiversity and ecosystem services (Deliverable 2b) will run until 11 July 2016.

Call for proposals: DOC2AMU doctoral programme, Aix-Marseille University, France - deadline 24 June 2016

Opening of the first call for applications to Aix-Marseille University’s COFUND DOC2AMU international doctoral programme. 

The program is targeted to promote international exchange: candidates are eligible if they have not resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the date of application.

Applications for doctoral projects in the following disciplines will be considered: Climate change; Imaging; Nano-Health; Big data; Network; Globalization;
