A Global Biogeochemical-Argo: Progress on Planning

Following encouragement from the Argo Steering Team, planning for a global, Biogeochemical-Argo system is underway.  A session at the US-OCB summer workshop will report on work being done in the Southern Ocean Carbon and Climate Observations and Modeling program (SOCCOM), which is one of several regional float arrays being operated around the globe.  In many regards, these regional arrays serve as prototypes for a global array of profiling floats with biogeochemical sensors.

NERC UK Funding Opportunity: Marine Integrated Autonomous Observing Systems

Proposals are invited for a new research programme on improving understanding of shelf sea ecosystem function using integrated autonomous observing systems.

 

This research programme will address the scientific and technological challenges of using new technologies to deliver a more efficient and integrated next-generation UK marine observing programme, capable of meeting science and policy data requirements now and into the future.

 

Mid-Term Evaluation of the EU LIFE Programme for Environment and Climate: Consultation Open

The European Commission's Directorate General for Environment has launched a consultation on the LIFE Programme for the Environment and Climate Action. LIFE is the EU’s financial instrument supporting environmental, nature conservation and climate action projects throughout the EU. Since 1992, LIFE has co-financed some 4306 projects. For the 2014-2020 funding period, LIFE will contribute approximately €3.4 billion to the protection of the environment and climate.

Call for expert reviews of IPBES draft documents

As part of the open, transparent and collaborative process in the development of IPBES assessment reports, the external First Order Draft review by experts of the IPBES thematic assessment on land degradation and restoration (Deliverable 3bi) and of the four regional assessments (Africa, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Europe and Central Asia) on biodiversity and ecosystem services (Deliverable 2b) will run until 11 July 2016.
