Physical oceanography postdoctoral opportunity, Princeton University

The Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences Program at Princeton University, in association with NOAA’s Geophysical Fluid Dynamics Laboratory (GFDL), seeks a postdoctoral or more senior scientist to develop parameterizations of internal wave-driven mixing, and implement and evaluate the parameterizations in global climate models. This position is a component of the ongoing NSF and NOAA-funded Climate Process Team, consisting of 15+ PIs from leading US institutions, with combined expertise in modeling, observational analysis and theoretical work. The ultimate goal of the project is to better parameterize internal-wave driven mixing in ocean climate models.

Southern Ocean Marine Physics job at NOC, Southampton

Applications are invited for a Southern Ocean Marine Physicist with a focus on circulation and climate. The post will contribute to two ongoing projects. The first is the 20-year time series of repeat hydrography in Drake Passage that monitors the changing climate in the Southern Ocean and contributes to the UK's sustained observing system and National Capability in Repeat Hydrography. The second project is a NERC grant to investigate the physical processes underpinning the oceanic delivery of heat to the rapidly melting ice shelves of West Antarctica.
