PostDoc Position (3 yrs) in Climate and Ocean Modeling at the National Institute for Space Research, Brazil

One postdoc position is offered in the working group ‘Global Ocean-Atmosphere Coupled Modeling', National Institute for Space Research (INPE), Cachoeira Paulista, SP, Brazil.

Application review will start as soon as the applications are received and continue until the position is filled.   Description of the position at the Global Coupled Ocean-Ice-Atmosphere Modeling Group. The successful candidate will use the Brazilian Earth System Model (BESM) to perform and analyze long-term climate simulations with relevance to the global climate change, carbon cycle and the effects of river discharges on ocean/atmosphere variability and change. This position includes teaching obligations.  

Requirements:

• PhD degree in oceanography, physics, geosciences or a related field

• Experience in marine numerical modeling is required

• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are expected, communication in Portuguese is expected with time within the group; interest and ability to work independently but team-oriented in a young, international research group.

 

The position will be awarded for three years, and the starting dates are as soon as possible. This is an equal opportunity employment project.
