Ocean
Remote Sensing: a Tool for Ocean Science and Operational Oceanography
is the name of a Regional workshop for African oceanographers to be
held at Rabat, Morocco, September 19-30, 2005. Scholarships will be
available on a competitive manner to cover part of the cost of travel
and daily subsistence.
The
International Foundation for Science IFS Granting Programme is
open for project proposals from developing country scientists conducting
research on the sustainable management of biological resources. Proposed
projects project must be related to the sustainable utilisation of
the biological and/or water resource base. Research grants are awarded
up to a maximum value of US$12,000 for a period of one to three years
and may be renewed twice. They are intended for the purchase of equipment,
expendable supplies, and literature.

2005 Research Cruise The "Floating University" will
be onboard the French research vessel Marion
Dufresne, currently scheduled to depart from Darwin on July 30
2005 and arrive in Jakarta on August 7 (arrival and departure dates
may vary very slightly). 30 students will participate in a multi-disciplinary
marine science program of lectures and research during the 7 days
