Job Opportunity: PhD candidate "Paleoceanography of trace metal pollution" at GEOMAR, Germany

GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel is offering a Ph.D. candidate position in the research unit “Paleoceanography” of the research division “Ocean Circulation and Climate”.

 

Application deadline: 23 March 2018

 

The successful candidate will perform experimental and calibration studies to determine the incorporation of trace metals into biogenic carbonate. The potential new proxies will be applied to historical environmental archives.

This position requires a degree equivalent to Master of Science in the field of marine Geosciences, Environmental Sciences or Biological Oceanography. Knowledge of Biogeochemistry is expected. Experience in the cultivation of marine organisms is desirable. The position requires participation in expeditions and the ability and willingness for sea-going research. Very good written and spoken English skills are essential.

 

The position starts on May 2, 2018.

 

The position is available for a funding period until three year. Salary and social benefits are according to 75% of Germany’s public sector TVöD 13 scale. The position can not be split.
