COSPAR Training and Capacity Building Course on Earth Observation Understanding of the Water Cycle (Over Land and Ocean) |
Thursday, 05 August 2010 14:38 |
The two-week COSPAR Training and Capacity Building Course that will be held in Fortaleza (Brazil) from 1-12 November, 2010 aims at improving our understanding and observations of the Water Cycle (Over Land and the Ocean) from space.
The course includes lectures covering issues related to Remote Sensing concepts, principles, methodologies, and applications, like remote sensing of soil moisture and ocean salinity, sea surface temperature, ocean colour, NDVI, surface energy balance and assimilation of remote sensing data and products in numerical models. Students will have the opportunity to present their work during a poster session. The three best posters will receive an award from FUNCEME.

Friday, 30 July 2010 08:29 |
Closing date: 7 September 2010
Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) is seeking to appoint a Marine Ecosystem Modeller. This post aims to tackle one of the principal scientific challenges in current marine ecosystem research: to understand and ultimately predict how marine systems respond to high CO2, in particular ocean acidification (OA) and hypothetical leaks from carbon capture and storage (CCS). The focus will be on ecosystem dynamics and biogeochemical cycles in shelf sea benthic systems.
