The Alfred-Wegener-Institut for Polar- and Marine Research (AWI) invites applications for an Employee (f/m) for the support of the coordination of time-series data



The main tasks include the establishment and further care for a website and to enhance the external representation of time-series as a total resource. The successful candidate will actively support and counsel scientists in the preparation of data for archiving in online data repositories as well as internal further education and regular information events for PhD candidates, PostDocs and new employees. She/He will work closely with the data info system Pangaea and will participate in national and international work-groups for time-series management and analysis. Other essential goals of the offered position are the improvement of internal communication between different scientific work-groups, sections and the IT department as well as ensuring better usability of existing data.



The candidate has to hold a bachelor’s degree (BSc) in a field of natural science or informatics. Proficiency in written and spoken English are expected. Experience concerning dealing with and analyzing large heterogenous data collections as well as experience with content management systems and knowledge of IT and online databases are desirable. The position is located in Bremerhaven, yet regular travel to the AWI facilities Helgoland, Sylt and Potsdam as well as the participation in external meetings will be necessary. Flexibility and stress resistance are further personal requirements.

The position is limited for 2 years with an option for becoming a permanent employment. Salary and legal framework for this position will be in accordance with the German Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst des Bundes (TVöD).
