Alfred Wegener Institute: Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI) is cordially invited to consider becoming a Participating University in the proposed WCCC Scholarship Program

University Registration for the World Climate Change Challenge, under & post graduate Scholarship Program for students from Developing Countries wishing to undertake climate mitigation & adaptation fields of study, at a world class international university is closing on Wednesday May 11th. Germany contributed USD1 billion to the Green Climate Fund, which was established to assist Developing Countries further develop their capacities to fight climate change. This generous contribution allows 10 German Universities to participate in the program.

 

To date only 7 German Universities have registered to participate in the scholarship program leaving 3 unallocated slots.

 

The effects of Climate Change will be pervasive across almost all Industry Sectors of any country's economy. Hence the WCCC is seeking German Universities which can help it expand the range of scholarship studies offered, at Diploma, Undergraduate, Graduate, Masters & PhD levels, covering areas such as renewable energy, the environment, agricultural, town planning, international law, water management, engineering, transport, health, education, health, marine sciences, etc. 

 

With each University taking on 20 new Full-Ride Climate Change & Industries related scholarships/year the program will create an extra 8,000 skilled climate workers for Developing Countries (DC's) & Small Island States (SIS's) by 2020
