The Nippon Foundation-—POGO Visiting Professorship Programme

Nippon Foundation – POGO Visiting Professorship Programme

completed programme

The programme allowed an experienced scientist to visit an oceanographic institution in a developing country to give lectures and provide training in his/her area of speciality to scientists from that institute and from other neighbouring institutes. The visiting scientist was the Nippon Foundation – POGO Visiting Professor in Marine Science. He/she visited the host institution for a period of between three and six months. By this means, we exposed young scientists, especially in developing countries, to the best oceanographers world wide and facilitate the formation of professional contacts that was invaluable for the development of their scientific careers.
