The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) federally funded research and development center, based in Boulder, Colorado, USA.

NCAR's Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Division and Research Applications Laboratory currently have a number of openings for modelers with experience in atmospheric data assimilation. The jobholders' role will be to contribute towards research, further development, and applications of the WRF three/four dimensional variational (3/4D-Var) data assimilation system (WRF-Var). The positions focus on a number of areas including a) Polar Data Assimilation, b) Hybrid ensemble-variational data assimilation, and c) Testing/tuning of Real-Time DA systems.
